16 weeks = perfect.

This morning was my 16 week checkup.

The doctors are pretty content with our progress so far.

All my blood work results came back as being perfect.

My weight gain is perfect.

My pap smear was perfect.

And the baby’s heartbeat is perfect.

According to me, the “perfect” heartbeat sounds like a storm.

According to the doctor, the “perfect” heartbeat sounds like a train gone awry.

According to Brian, the “perfect” heartbeat sounds like a squirrel.

Uhhhh…

For anyone who’s keeping track, the heart rate was 162 (similar to last time).  And an additional five pounds have taken up residence in my body (adding up to a whopping total of six pounds).

One monumental task was accomplished today: I was able to schedule my 20 week ultrasound (the gender revealing ultrasound)!  If you hear a loud squeal the morning of June 11th, that might be me rejoicing.

(Technically, I could find out this week at a snazzy place around the corner.  But considering our hopes to have as much money saved as possible for my maternity leave, it seems that patience will pay a greater reward.  Nevertheless, the internal battle wages on!)

I don’t have a feeling yet about the sex but I can tell you not to go by the heartbeat because my sons heart was more the heartbeat of a girl and I just had this “motherly intuition” that I was having a girl even before the heartbeat but I had a BOY! LOL At least you know it is either a girl or a boy! 😉 And the most amazing part is whatever you have you know it is the perfect gender because God chose!!

I’m voting for a girl as well. I keep wanting to write ‘she’ instead of ‘the baby’. I have no clue why I feel this way and cannot justify, Sorry!

Be patient. To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. One of my very favorite lines of music and additionally, adapted from the The Book of Ecclesiastes
