Trying to be the sort of sister that spoils her little sibs, after dinner last night, we each cracked open our own pints of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Between sales and coupons, I was able to score them for two bucks apiece!
(Sweet! No pun intended… Okay, maybe a little pun intended.)
This was my first time trying out the flavor Cherry Garcia (cherry ice cream with cherries and fudge flakes). Having fully expected this ice cream to be red or pink in hue, I was pleasantly surprised to see that typical, vanilla shade instead.
Oh, that’s right, there’s no artificial coloring. Wonderful!
The cherry isn’t overpowering in the least. Let’s just say that this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
Donovan wasn’t with Olivia and me at the grocery store, so she picked out the Strawberry Cheesecake flavor for him. This girl knows her brother’s preferences so well.
Me, “Donovan, how would you describe the flavor of your ice cream and how you’re enjoying it?”
Donovan, “Alright, well, I think it’s gonna be hard for me to talk and eat ice cream at the same time ’cause it’s so good I can’t stop eating it. And there’s like a sort of gritty feel to the ice cream, but it’s like a good gritty, like graham crackers, not a bad gritty like grits.”
Olivia, “Grits is disgusting.”
Me, “Go on.”
Donovan, “And since I really like cheesecake, and I really like strawberries, it is the perfect combination of flavors, including the graham cracker crust.”
Olivia selected the flavor Imagine Whirled Peace (“caramel & sweet cream ice creams swirled with fudge peace signs & toffee cookie pieces).
Me, “Olivia, how would you describe the flavor of your ice cream and how you’re enjoying it?”
Olivia, “Nice and chunky.”
*silence*
Me, “Is that it?”
Olivia, “Yeah.”
Donovan (the wordier one), “Really?”
Olivia, “I don’t know. Very peaceful and made me full.”
Donovan leaned over and peered into her pint, “Oh you’re done!”
Me, “You’re done! Holy cow!”
Donovan, “I’ve only eaten half my ice cream.”
Olivia to Donovan, “You’ve only eaten half your ice cream because you broke your spoon.”
Donovan, “No, this ice cream contains 1,000 calories and I am going to savor every moment of it.”
*sigh*
Just like Charley.
And, yeah, that’s Brian with his usual Chubby Hubby. It’s a good thing I’m satisfied with my own flavor! You guys know what happens to me and Chubby Hubby.
Oh, you gotta try B & J’s Coffee Heath Bar Crunch. It is AMAZING. Not to be confused with Vanilla Heath Bar Crunch which doesn’t even come close to the Coffee Heath Bar Crunch ice cream.
The Coffee Heath Bar Crunch can be hard to find at the grocery store. We have had better luck finding it at Giant than at Safeway.
Interesting how different grocery stores pick and choose which flavors they’ll carry. I LOVE Dublin Mudslide, but I don’t see it carried by Safeway right now.
Now I’m hungry for something sweet …… where’s mine??? LOL
Coconut Almond Fudge for me. Cherry Garcia always for Maggie. New Chocolate Decadence also superb as is Chunky Monkey.
LOVE B & J
Chocolate Decadence sounds lovely. But Coconut? I bet I’d be ALL OVER that. Didn’t used to like coconut as much as I do now.
ummmm… all of them! But the fudge brownie or coookie dough the fish food but what is in the Dublin one sounds like it might be a treasure. Great now I want ice cream!
my favorite B&J flavor EVER was From Russia with Buzz–it was a combination of Coffee, Coffee, Buzz, Buzz, Buzz and White Russian. I wish they still made it
When i lived in New Hampshire, every August the local blood drive was ‘Give a Pint, Get a Pint,’ with a coupon for a free pint of B&J to every donor.
the only bad thing about it was that you were limited to ONE pint. I’m sure i could managed to give more 🙂
What a great post! Loved reading this. I love our family. I love our siblings. Donovan and Olive are quite a pair. lol
