Though his residency remains in heaven, Charley is still managing to leave me in a state of speechless chuckles here on this earth.
Brace yourself.
Momma dug this out and had me bring it home so that I could appreciate it forever:
Back when I was in high school, Charley was sweet enough to paint a portrait of my friend, Katie, and me in a photo booth. (If you can’t tell, I’m the one on the left.) Being in our young teens, this photo booth obsession was a harmless way to kill time in West Virginia.
Now, it’s a little risky posting this masterpiece so publicly. I hear that people often steal art to sell it on the black market! If I go off the grid for a couple of days, it’s because I’m so exhausted from all the phone calls I’m getting from these fancy art museums.
Sorry, guys, you can’t put a price on this baby!
Oh, Charley. What did you do with my ears? …And my nose? …And while we’re at it, my whole face? My brows are spot on though. I totally over-tweezed them back in the day. And I loved that white, beaded necklace. And I love you, too.
🙂
I cherish mine too. And the flower piece I have. Xo
Definitely recall this type of portraiture from when I was younger. How many people have their likeness drawn by a loved one? Special 🙂
I know. Our family was and is so special. *sigh*
This is sweet.
I saw this the other day upstairs. I knew that it was a photo booth shot of you and Katie. How sweet. I miss Charley. A lot. It seems that tears come to my eyes at least once a day. I really look forward to seeing him again. Hear his laugh. <3
