Dear baby,
Are you in there?
I can’t feel you yet, but the internet says that you’re as big as my open hand.
There are hundreds of questions that I want to ask you.
Are you sensitive? Are you silly? Are you quiet? Do you love the spotlight?
Will you give breastfeeding an honest try?
Will you try to ride Esther like a pony?
Will you be a morning person?
Let me tell you about your mommy: I like one on one time with people. I get overwhelmed in crowds, unless I’m teaching. Math was one of my favorite subjects, followed by French. I’ve been a hairstylist for over eight years now. It keeps me quite busy! I love your daddy. He makes me laugh; and he’ll surely make you laugh, too. We both love Jesus and can’t wait to read Bible stories to you. I love flavors of all kinds and will likely try to get you to eat as many varieties of foods as possible. (It worked on your dad.) I still love children’s movies, so I’m sure we’ll enjoy those moments together. And if you’re interested, we’ll probably be singing together, too, as that’s another regular habit of mine.
And here’s a bit about your dad: He loves to horse around, wrestling and chasing and tickling. He’s got a servant’s heart and loves to care for others. Just wait until you see how he cares for you! He’s got tough, angry-looking tattoos; but if you pay attention, there’s a gentleness behind his eyes. He talks to himself in the shower. Actually, he talks to himself all the time. He likes to know how a story ends before he has the patience to see it unfold. And he’s equally eager in his gift-giving. The odds are high that you will never actually make it to Christmas morning to open your presents because he’ll be too excited to wait.
With a growing love,
Your Mom
Very good my friend.

Dear First Grandchild,
We are sooooo looking forward to having you join our family. We might not be polite and take turns in holding you, in fact, I’m not sure you’ll need to learn to walk for a long, long time. Be prepared for lots of grandmotherly smooches, grandfatherly bounces, auntie squeezes til you giggle and tons of stories from your uncle. We already love you so much and can’t wait to express our love every chance we get. Mwah! ♥ ♥ ♥
I think I am going to cry!
Suzy, When Brian was born I waited at the hospital to see our 3rd grandson. I looked in his mothers eyes and saw tears of joy & heard her say I NEVER KNEW I COULD LOVE ANYONE SO MUCH! As she held her newborn son. I knew then she would be the best Mom.
Amen to the comments about Brian.
I happy teared up a little. Love your way with words my friend and reading as you grow in your mommy ways.
Oh my goodness…….and it only gets better……your love for this baby is gonna blow you away…..what a blessed little one to have you guys as mommy and daddy! My heart is soooo big with joy for you guys. Can’t wait to meet you little one!
Oh Suzy… This warmed my heart, made me smile and encouraged me to get out of bed before 7 to hug my little one!
So sweet! I just love this post. I picture you sharing it with your cold someday.
Magnifique! I did know, for sure, you were going to love this baby (and that fact is already obvious) but didn’t know you love French!
You’ll have plenty of time to ask all of these questions and your little one with have twice as many to ask you in about three more years !
I love this!!
