What’s your happy place?
I’ve found myself spending more and more time in Bennett’s work-in-progress nursery. First of all, there’s The Maverick. But there’s also the most fabulous, warm sunshine streaming in through the windows. (Don’t worry. This weekend Brian and I worked on hanging curtains and curtain rods in order to black the room out when needed.) In addition to the comfort of my La-Z-Boy and blanket-like sunshine, the colors in here are so calm. Quite without my intention, I’ve accumulated a lot of grays and greens, browns and tans, each with its own soft, muted hue. In fact, I don’t think there’s one primary color in here to speak of. Ahhh, so relaxing.
(Pictures will be posted when I’ve got it all sorted and organized… Which could be never, but hopefully soon.)
So this morning, I curled myself up into The Maverick and began reading some of Jesus’ teaching in Matthew. Bennett had the hiccups and was pushing and flailing a bit. Quite absent-mindedly, I began to rock and glide in my chair, not even realizing that with my right hand’s fingertips I was rubbing circles around my belly. In a few minutes, Bennett’s hiccups were gone and he felt very still.
I think I rocked my baby back to sleep! It’s a little thing, but that moment instilled a wee bit of confidence into this newbie momma.
Feelin’ mighty peaceful right now.
Just wait till you do that with Bennett in your arms…its an amazing feeling.
Love this!!!

Instinct is miraculous! You feel what is right to do many times. Even better than ‘book learning’ in some cases.
I am happy for you; what a great moment for you and Bennett.
Motherhood comes naturally for the most part. Bennett is going to be a good, happy little baby because happiness and joy are all that he’s been exposed to.
The nursery sounds beautiful.
That’s awesome! Down the road car rides will do the trick too. LOL Can’t wait to see the room!
