Gray sweater mission.

In preparation for my trip to Chicago last weekend, I was sure to make a pit stop at Nordstrom Rack, my home away from home.

My mission?  To find something extremely warm that coordinated with my awesome gray boots.

Mission accomplished.

Got this gray sweater:

The knit it so tight that it really does a great job trapping in the heat.  This thing is deceptively warm.  Only problem?  The sweater hung open and had nothing by which I could fasten it shut.  Why do sweaters have to hang open without the option to shut?  I look like a box.  I think I can fix this…

On a quick break from work the next day, I picked up some snaps at JoAnn’s for about two bucks.

…And strategically sewed them on the next morning.

Piece o’ cake.

Brilliant investment.

Worked like a charm.

Now I have the semblance of a waist.

Personally, I like the asymmetrical neckline (where I was sure to place my homemade scarf) and the way that the arms fit snug all the way through the top (without dealing with too much flappiness under the pits).  ‘Twas nice enjoying the hair show and not having to lug my gigantic coat from stage to stage.

Did I mention what a steal this was?

That’s right.  Originally $228, purchased for $34.20!

My boots and scarf sitting atop “the  cow”:

How do you plan for your trips?

I liked it open, but I also liked the idea of having the ability to close it. šŸ™‚

    Love the coat!

I like the sweater and I LOVE those the boots. Great outfit and I love that you saved money and fixed it yourself.
