Hair show.

Have you ever been to a work conference?  A symposium?  An out of town meeting?

The field of cosmetology is one of the most unique arenas ever.

Our salon packed up this weekend and headed to one of the largest annual “beauty shows” in our country.  (Thanks, Erika, for being my guest writer in the meantime!)

Guess where we landed.

Yes!  Chicago!

Guess what our “work trips” look like.

There’s a lot of observing.  …And a lot of fishnet tights.

Some people wear their hair kinda different.

And others go for more drama.

It takes a lot to impress me.  …But animal print tends to do the trick.

Some people will do anything to sell a product.

Though I’m pretty sure that’s not how most women prefer to wear their hair extensions.

Somebody put me out of my misery if I ever resort to these measures to sell a product.  (I hate that I love their irons and yet they still stoop to this practice to gain interest!  The Enzo Milano Reverso iron is the BEST for waving.  I had my boss bring back six for the shop.)

Natural hair colors are the minority.

I *heart* nature-inspired design!  She looked like a sea anemone swaying under water when he was done!

Here’s a teeny snippet of the Aquage stage:

And here’s a five minute bit from the Wella presentation.  The actual runway show starts three minutes into it:

Admittedly, most of these looks are kinda far out.  I know.  The beauty of seeing fellow stylists push the envelope, however, is that once I know how to be extreme, I can water down any look for perfect customization.  I’m so thankful for a boss who prioritizes education!

Looks like I’m going to have to get to work on some more hair tutorials!

I love, love, love your boss … she is so awesome. I don’t know many people who take their entire workplace out of town to learn new things. Everyone benefits. 🙂

Love everything about the animal print . Even though it’s ‘kinky’, it’s elegant and looks to be a great haircut.
