Pregnant Square Piece stayed out of the heat last summer. That might explain why in the last five summers, that was the one time that I did not develop heat rash. I’ve been calling it sun poisoning, but upon further investigation, it seems to be more symptomatic of heat rash.
Just when I think it’s subsiding, some average, summertime errand aggravates my skin again and I’m left wanting to scratch myself raw. Most of the time, I don’t even realize I’m doing it.
So on Monday, I finally cried my woes to Dr. Betsy Bartlett as she’s finally all set up in Winchester. Momma met me there, too, and had Dr. Betsy check her out. Several years back, Momma wasn’t able to keep up with the program when Dr. Betsy was two hours away in Romney, WV; but driving to Winchester is much more doable.
Anyhow, in many ways my body showed improvement compared to years past due to my healthier eating habits and more limited exposure to salon chemicals (being that I only work three days a week instead of five). There are four Standard Process supplements that I’ll be taking (in varying quantities) until I see Dr. Betsy again in a month. As I type this, I’m two days into the regimen. Though still itchy at times, I don’t believe that I’ve absentmindedly scratched myself as much as I did earlier this week. Perhaps it’s just my wishful thinking, but I’ll keep you posted.
Keeping things simple, I was pleased to see Dr. Betsy still does not take insurance, but only charges $35 for a typical office visit (though the very first consult is usually more because she spends SO much more time with you). Her supplements were reasonably priced, as usual, and her space is SO much bigger as she has new visions to not only continue with her Nutritional Response Testing and chiropractic care, but she’s broadening her reach by providing help for people who struggle with weight and emotional eating.
I’m so happy for her! …And selfishly for myself, too!

Was good to see her again. She’s such a cheerful, uplifting person. I appreciated her confirmation on a few things I had been wondering about and the chiro adjustment for the hiatal hernia. š I’m looking forward to getting my digestive system back on track and my thyroid working better. š
Yeah, that hernia adjustment was pretty awesome. Can you feel a difference? And I thought it was cool that she didn’t want to “pretend” to address weight loss before tackling the thyroid. She’s a smartie!
Glad for you and what an awesome resource to have here in the area.
Especially now that Dr. McD is retired. š
Yeah, I definitely need to schedule something with her next time momma goes up. I really should. I’m getting older and need to keep after myself.
