We all knew that this time would come eventually.
I found my first gray hair on Saturday (well, my first if you don’t count my renegade eyebrow hair).
Upon my discovery, I let out a little, “Hooooooooo! *pause in disbelief* Hooooooooo! *pause for confirmation* HOOOOOOOO!”
When Brian questioned my wary exclamation, I pointed out the lone gray hair and he reassured me that I’d age gracefully and be a “silver fox.”
Nice.
It’s not too much of a bother. You see, as a haircolorist, I already have a plan: staining. Redken makes a color line called Shades EQ. I can formulate a pale golden brown that will stain the gray while leaving my virgin hair behind just as it is, only shinier. The more gray I get, the more stained “highlights” I’ll have. Fun fun.
Bring it on, gray hairs, bring it ON.
*Game face.*
Just eleven more days to submit a response for our first Contest/Giveaway! If you haven’t given much thought to the Mother’s Day that’s around the corner, this couldn’t be easier!
With me, for every gray hair I plucked out, 10 more came out to the funeral.

I’ve been following your blog for a while. I myself am thinking of enrolling in Cosmetology school within the next month, but just was curious how you were when you were going into it? Did you have a lot of knowledge already, or did school truly prepare you for working in the industry? I’m nervous and have this fear that I’m going to be done with it and feel not ready.
Also, being a believer…do you find it hard to be a hairstylist? Or have you loved having the benefit being able to share Jesus’ love with all the clients in your chair?
I feel this is what I’m good at, always loved it since I was little, but having these doubts, and not sure if it’s just Satan trying to keep me from pursuing my dream.
Thanks for your time!
Thanks for sharing! Look for my reply in this week’s Comment of the Week!
I’ve decided awhile back to stop fighting mine. I truly look at it as a sign of wisdom now. 🙂
