Hypothetically speaking, you’ve moved to a new town and now need a new hairstylist. You’ve scoured the internet for all the help it can bring you. A few names pop up. Please tell me what these names suggest to you, what your heart instantly feels/senses. Would you pursue that salon further or immediately cross it off your list based on the name alone?
But, yeah, hypotheticallyโฆ And let’s keep this off Facebook for now…
- Glass Door Salon
- 10:30 Hair Craft
- Signature Hair Studio
- The Very Hairs
Ready? Go!
The Glass Door or 10:30 would be my picks.
Glass door or signature.
Glass door salon sounds more upscale than the others ๐
Glass Door or Signature. They both suggest something upscale, open, and personal to me.
Glass Door Salon
Glass Door Salon
Signature Hair Salon
The glass door. Although I think Suzy’s Shears is also a salon name I’d trust!! Or the Suzy Spears Experience! Although that may not be taken the way intended.. Or maybe salon de suzanna! Phew, I’m getting ahead of myself, and probably not understanding the purpose of this post correctly but oh well ๐
On name alone and no other info? Glass Door is the best of the four–I would check it out, and would expect it to be upscale and professional. Signature is…fine. The Very Hairs sounds like you’re trying to be clever and are inexperienced. 10:30 makes me curious about what the name means, but something about “craft” just sounds strange so I would be less likely to choose it.
Signature sounds classy.
Very Hairs suggests I have found a Christian who would understand that major part of me.
I like both. And hypothetically. I wish you the best.
To be honest, I wouldn’t go by name alone, I’d try to look at reviews. BUT Signature seems cliche to me, the craft in 10:30 is a little odd too. I love the sound of Glass Doors. I feel like I could tell my friends, “I go to Glass door Salon” and it doesn’t sound weird.
The Glass Door sounds magical, transparent, honest, no smoke and mirrors.. also I have heard the other names in various forms but have never heard of the glass door.. there are so many corny names for hair salons.. When I go to get my hair done I want to trust the salon to be open, honest, to listen to me but to add some magic to my limited ideas for myself.. so I vote for the Glass door
The Glass Door for me too although I do love Suzy’s Shears as well and might pick that one if leafing thru the phone book or viewing the Internet
I’m pleased to see you getting good feed back on this. If I had to choose a salon based on name alone, I probably would go with Glass Door, but only because it does sound more interesting and different. Personally, I would look up the salon and see the reviews and lean towards one that has an “atmosphere” that supports my lifestyle. ๐
Anything but the very hairs.
The glass door.
It is whimsical and kind of reminds me of the phrase writing on the wall for some reason.
or
The Very Hairs because it reminds me of the scripture where it says that God knows every hair on our heads.
I wouldn’t necessarily pick a salon by name more by reviews. But a classy fun name can only help, right! A lot of friends suggest “glass door” but honestly seeing that name on the internet I would have NO clue is would be a hair salon , maybe that is just me ๐ I like the Suzy’s Shears or something along those lines
Exciting! My first reaction when I read the “Glass Door”Salon was, Isn’t that the name of the lingerie store in Hagerstown? Thankfully it is not. I googled it, and the name is the Locked Door. Still of the names listed, my pick is Signature Hair Studio. I like that Signature starts with a “S” as does your first and last name. Also, I feel like there could be nice graphics with that name, and a tagline to accompany the brand… providing your “signature” look, or something like that.
One additional thought- why not Square Piece Salon? You’ve already built a personal brand on your blog under that name, have an audience of followers, etc. It would be easy to create a web site for the business and link to the blog. Then, as potential clients search for a stylist in the area, they could read your blog too and learn about the personal side. Speaking for myself, I am more willing to contribute to a business or check something out if I can get a sense of the business owner online. You are your own best ambassador. Just a thought !
See you soon; unfortunately, I have a random early morning appointment with you so we won’t have nearly enough time to catch up.
1) Glass Door, 2) Signature.
But if it’s called GooGrease and you work there, I’m there. xxxxx
I like Erika’s “build on your own brand” idea too. Square Piece, that is. But I would prefer to see a real person’s name if that’s the case. I like a teeny separation of business/personal where appropriate. Just think of all the business you would generate if people search for hairstylist Suzy Spears…just saying. (giggle) Behind you whatever you’re up to, hypothetical or otherwise.
Suzy’s Signature hair salon
The Glass Door, for sure!
Glass Door Salon- sophisticated and intriguing.
Suzy Shears next:)
Very Hairs sounds like some animal thing. Glass Door makes me think people will be watching me get my hair washed, cut, died etc. (but I’m weird about that). Since the airline industry has been taking a beating for the last decade, I’m not too thrilled about that 10:30 – plus I’m such a disaster, I’d probably always think my appt was at 10:30. Signature indicated personal and special… And sounds quite ‘Suzy like’….
I would cast my vote for Signature, although Glass Door is somewhat intriguing. I agree with others who have said something with your name in it (or at least part of it) would be nice and personal. Something to consider would be the atmosphere of the town in which the hypothetical salon would be located. In a place like most of Loudoun or Fairfax, a more upscale name would be more appropriate while if the shop were in a place like, say, Winchester, a more down to earth name would be more fitting IMHO. ๐
Glass Door Salon is definitely my favorite. It sounds very high end and stands out the most.
The only one I would not check out is The Very Hairs; it just has suspicious undertones to me. Of the other three, I would think the Glass Door would have more of a creative tendency (yes, I would try it because you know I have an open attitude about color and cut), but Signature Hair Studio has a more classic lilt to it. Not sure if that helps.
I like The Glass Door.
Glass Door 1st; Signature Second. I know the Bible verse about God knowing every hair on your head…but, when I read “Very Hairs Salon” my initial reaction was how scary movies makes the very hairs on my neck stick out!! (Ok, so I’m weird – but there you have it – you wanted feedback!!)
Signature Hair Studio sounds like you would get individualized attention to the very best styles that would be best for your face and life. Glass Door seems too open for private people who don’t like to be seen with foil and dye and rollers in their hair.
My vote would be Glass Door Salon. In fact, if you’re ever in the Winston-Salem, NC area stop by my salon –Glass Door Salon & Spa– and check it out ๐
