What to do? What to do?
As I sit on the couch pondering my Fourth of July plans, all I can do is hope that the weather is beautiful and that somebody helps me to make up my mind about the fireworks.
Having an eight month old baby, I haven’t the faintest clue if it’s a good idea to take Bennett to see the sparkles in the sky or if I should just lay low. Will he be afraid of the booms? Will he be bold? If so, do I want to travel a bit to see a better firework show? But what if he melts down? Do I want to make the effort just to have to head back home early?
Veteran parents (or those of you with objective brilliance… or those of you who heard from so-n-so a good piece of advice), what’s the Fourth of July like with a baby?! Advice? Stories? Suggestions?
The plans are to go berry picking in the morning. The evening is totally up in the air (no pun intended).
What about you?
PS: I love the fireworks that look like a twinkly weeping willow tree.
My advise….go see some fireworks, but from a distance so that if you need to leave you can. We sometimes go to Leesburg and sit on the hill across from the Kohls right by the Staples store. We also have neighbors who will have a mini show on the street. You are a wise and wonderful mom and will figure out what is best for your little guy. Happy Fourth!!
I took Aurora to see the fireworks last night and she watched in awe. I was worried about it, more because it was way past her bedtime. But she did really well. I think finding a place where you could potentially leave easily might be a good idea, but I think Aurora felt safe because I was holding her too. I hope you figure something out 😀
I agree with Jessica. And if you do, make sure you get video or pictures of his reactions 🙂
Great advice so far, not too close and being able to leave the scene quickly/easily if necessary. Watching it from the backyard at our house we can see the effects without the crowds/traffic and sonic boooooom! 🙂
Next year. Next year.
Of my two girls, one loved and the other was terrified. No right answer. Expose and have an easy escape route.
Happy Fourth!
