“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us.”
Psalm 67:1
All right, I don’t know who all has been praying for Pregnant Square Piece, Brian and Bennett, but I hope that today you take a minute not just to make petition to God, but to THANK HIM for answering your prayers.
As if we weren’t so incredibly blessed by the love, emotional support and encouragement of our friends and family, we’ve been offered physical and practical support as well in the form of a baby shower.
…Um… make that THREE baby showers!
That’s right. You heard me. Three.
I’ve almost been embarrassed to admit this, feeling guilty for getting three when some people get zero. (Expect more elaboration on this later as I have been studying and praying about my insecurities about being blessed beyond what is sufficient.) While I haven’t been able to concisely pinpoint and outline my own shortcomings regarding the acceptance of help, generosity and blessings, I’m going to start thanking and praising the Lord for His provision anyhow.
So before I continue, let’s just imagine this blog being my mountain top. From the highest peak, on my tippiest toes, I’d like to shout, sing and clap a huge “Thank you, Lord!” for what He’s so generously provided already and how He’s moving in the hearts of dear ones who also want to participate in these blessings.
So, not only am I having three baby showers, but ALL THREE coordinators want their party to be the biggest and the best, excluding NO ONE. That means YOU! (No, seriously, I’ve checked and double-checked to be sure that my Square Piece readers, whom I consider to be dear friends, are more than welcome and have always gotten a resounding “YES!”)
So here’s the break down:
- On Sunday, July 29th at 2:00 P.M., my mother-in-law, Donna Hodson, is throwing a party for us in Winchester, Virginia. And by party, I mean pArTy.
What makes this one unique: Donna doesn’t just want to see ladies, she wants to see families. So hubbies and children are encouraged to join us. This is the one shower where both Brian, Momma and Charley will be attending. If you’d like to see the family or rejoice with the grandparents-to-be, this is likely to be the most family-friendly, family-attended shower of them all. There will be plenty of good food and it’s also more conveniently located to our folks in the Shenandoah Valley. (For weeks, if not months, Donna has been doing her baby shower research and is so excited about all of the details coming together. For instance, she’s planning a prize drawing for anyone who brings a pack of diapers or wipes.)
For more information or to RSVP, please email Donna Hodson at dhodson@earthlink.net.
- On Sunday, August 19th at 2:00-ish P.M., my friends, Karen McKinley and Sherri Piech, are throwing a shower as well!
What makes this one unique: Karen and Sherri know me really, really well and are tapped into all of our friends at Guilford Baptist Church. And while it’s kinda tradition to hold baby showers for moms-to-be in our little church community, Karen and Sherri VERY MUCH want all of my friends to be able to join in the celebrations. They’ve been putting their heads together and last week I got a phone call asking how I’d feel about a “boob theme.” Okay, I don’t really know what to expect with this one being that this is one theme that has been presented after string of others (even a Christmas theme was mentioned). But I expect a lot of laughs and a lot of dear, sweet fellowship. This shower will likely take place somewhere in Loudoun County, VA.
For more information or to RSVP, please email Sherri Piech at sherri.piech@gmail.com.
- On Sunday, September 9th at 2:00 P.M., my boss, Dianne Lang, is throwing a baby shower, too!
What makes this one unique: Never one to miss out on the fun and the action, Dianne is keeping to her tradition of ALWAYS throwing a shower for one of her own. If you’ve ever been to my workplace, you know that this woman loves to have a good time. Not only does she want our salon staff to have a chance to celebrate, she also wants any and all clients to join in the fun as well! You know Dianne doesn’t go small for anything, so expect BIG laughs, BIG fun and a LOT of personality. Our salon isn’t just a place to work, it’s a family. So if you’ve been adopted into the Bristles family (meaning, one of us has had our hands in your hair), this might be the shower for you!
Dianne’s asked me to compile a headcount so that she can determine whether to hold this at the shop or to reserve another venue. So for more information or to RSVP, email me at suzy@iwantasquarepiece.com. (Or if you’re overwhelmed by the options and just want my opinion regarding where you’d be more comfortable, shoot me an email.)
Go ahead and check your calendars against your vacation schedule and let’s have some fun this summer! There’s not one shower where our hosts would’t be eager to welcome more friends. Like I said, they all want to put on the biggest shindig!
Holy XOXO’s!
Hmmm, I wonder if I can reschedule my July or September appointment to be at one of the showers?
I’d love it if that worked out. <3
We are coming. I love baby showers. I love you Suzy! Thank you for the wonderful fathers-day card. This has been a great day, except when the dog ate my hearing aid!!!!!!
Oh dear.
Wonderful, wonderful … I’m so happy for you! As you well know, I only had one baby shower for Mandy by the church ladies and then none til Donovan … so I’m especially happy that you are being so richly blessed and definitely thanking our FATHER in heaven for pouring out these blessings on you, Brian and baby Bennett.
oooh delightful! I will be back in the States for Karen’s shower, so I will let her know I can come! Woo Hoo!
So awesome!!!!!! I’m shouting those praises with you! God is so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh man–I’m supposed to be at a family reunion (for Bob’s family) on Aug. 12 . . . hmmm, surely sending 9 other immediate family members should count for me, right?! Karen and Sherri’s shower sounds like one I do NOT want to miss!
We’re gonna try to get back from the beach in time for Donna’s party/shower. I love that God is blessing you so. To Him be the glory!
i wish i lived closer that the PNW! we’ve never met, but through your mom and your blog, i really feel as though i know you and i’d love the opportunity to come and celebrate with all of you (okay, and to met up with Donna and Charley again–you don’t need me to tell you that your dad has the BEST sense of humor!)
Oh how I want to attend. It saddens me greatly that I won’t be there. I will see you in October!
