Sherri’s shower.

In seasons of chaos, it’s nice to take time to think of others, isn’t it?

My friend, Sherri, and I are experiencing mutual insanity as her wedding is October 7th and my due date is October 31st-ish.  As long as she and I have been friends, I don’t think either one of us ever anticipated that when the time came to dramatically alter the course of our lives, the other one of us would also be quite occupied.  What I mean is that when I imagined myself finally styling Sherri’s hair on her wedding day, never once did I picture a gigantic belly awkwardly scrunched between us!  Nor would Sherri have ever imagined that when I had my first child, she’d be hunkered down into the exclusivity and intimacy of the newlywed chapter.

Nevertheless!  Last night I was able to participate in coordinating her bridal shower and this coming weekend Sherri will be participating in throwing my Church & Friends Baby Shower.  (Message me if you need details on that.  Just make sure I have your name/email address.)

Sherri’s two sisters, Becky and Julie, were the technical “hosts” and ran the show while I provided the venue, A.K.A. my backyard.  We had an informal wine tasting (as in “Here’s some of Sherri’s favorite wine.  Help yourself.”) and a night of playing Bunco.  Sherri opened her gifts later into the evening as the glow of candles, tiki torches and white Christmas lights surrounded us (and every now and then so did the motion sensor light on my back deck).
