The trail to ice cream.

In this household, you’d have to be a mindreader to satisfy my pregnancy appetite.  No, wait.  If you read my mind, then we’d be operating under the assumption that even I know what I want at any given time.  This, in fact, is not true.

Ok, let’s start over.  In this household, you’d have to be a fortune teller to satisfy my pregnancy appetite.

Here’s what I mean:

Me, an hour after dinner, “Brian, I’m hungry again.”

Brian, “What do you want?”

Me, “I don’t know.  What do we have?”

Brian, “Hummus.”

Me, “No.”

Brian, “Chips and salsa.”

Me, “No.”

Brian, “Granola bar.”

Me, “No.”

Brian, “Another hot dog?”

Me, “No.”

Brian, “Ritz crackers.”

Me, “We have ritz crackers?”

Brian, “Yeah.”

Me, “What kind?”

Brian, “They’re good.  They’re vegetable.”

Me, “No.”

Brian, “Well, they’re not as good as the regular ones.  Toast with honey, toast with jam?”

Me, “No.”

Brian, “What do you want?  Tell me what you want.”

Me, “I don’t know, but thank you for helping me figure it out.”

Brian, “Anything.  Just pick something.  Do you want me to make something?”

Me, “I don’t know.”

Brian, “Eggs?”

Me, “No.”

Brian, “Oh my gosh.”

Me, “Something sweet.”

Brian, “Popcorn.”

Me, “Kettle corn?”

Brian, “Yes.”

Me, intrigued, “Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.”

(During this pause, Brian was feeling hopeful.)

Me, “No.”

Brian headed to the kitchen and began yelling from the pantry, “Flipsides with honey?”

Me, “Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  No.  Ice cream.  I want ice cream.”

Brian, “Chocolate or vanilla?”

Me, “It doesn’t matter.  *…pause…*  Both.  I want both.”

Isn’t he the best?  Wouldn’t you just want to strangle me?  This is why I could never be married to someone just like me.

He was like ” who goes to chicfila and only gets a brownie and cherries.” my responce, ” a man with a pregnant wife.” and let me tell you when he came home it was SOoooo good! Hope you enjoyed your ice-cream.

  5. Hee hee. Later on in pregnancy you’ll probably just want….everything. It will hardly matter what kind of food. Or, you’ll just see someone eating something and you’ll want what he has– the power of suggestion. 😉
