I need to simplify my life.
There’s been an ice cream maker sitting in an unopened box in the corner of my kitchen for at least a month. Atop this box is an unused strawberry Topsy Turvy. Sadly, they’re beginning to blend into the furniture; this is in spite of the fact that the reason they were set out in the first place was so that I’d remember to prioritize their use!
You know when you’re out shopping and you see a great shirt for a great price? In that moment, you’re not thinking about all of the other shirts that you already own and how full your closet already is. No, you’re simply thinking about how nice that one shirt is.
But then you take it home and you’ve got to stuff it along side all of the other older shirts that used to make you feel just as giddy.
Well, that’s how my life feels sometimes. Except instead of shirts, it’s ideas & commitments. There are a plenty of projects that I’d like to complete, but they’re hanging in the closet of my mind next to a bunch of other good intentions.
Has anyone ever tried saying “no” to everything that comes your way for, like, a whole year or two? If so, do you actually ever make it to the end of that mental checklist?
I would like to borrow your ice cream maker.
Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!
I would like FOR you to borrow my ice cream maker! Let’s make an ice cream date!
Am I number 5000?
Yes, Charley, I believe you are my 5,000th comment! Thank you!
my apartment is FULL of stuff like that–the supplies that look so cool and are so inspiring sitting on top of the OTHER supplies that looked so cool and were so inspiring…
i should probably just take a week or so vacation and get down to it
I’d need at least a month to sort, organize and unpack
‘great purchases’ never used or in some cases, still unopened. Don’t feel bad. I keep hoping I’ll make it to
retirement and find time to prioritize my brain and belongings.
LOL @ Charley! I’m too ADD to even begin projects. Thus, no projects. 😛 If I do get the motivation it is most definitely ONE at a time but only because I take long breaks in between. lol
Teach me how to do that.
I said “No” to pretty much everything but the absolute necessary when Ross was born and am pretty good at not overcommiting, but sadly, the mental list (in my case, an ACTUAL list) confines to grow.
