My sister, Manny, catches up on Square Piece about once a week. Being that I get an email notification every time someone leaves a comment, I love checking my phone and seeing her marathon of comments all at once.
My sister has the craziest, funniest, most maniacal laugh. I love the thought of her chuckling to herself and shaking her head at the silliness in my household. Even better, I can hear her voice when I read her replies to a post.
But speaking of comments, I’ve got a question.
My mom recently nudged me to be more diligent in replying to my readers’ comments, especially if they’ve taken the time to leave a lengthy, personal one. I fussed that sometimes (like tonight) I barely have time to squeeze writing a blog in, much less to reply to each comment. There’s also the general wondering in the back of my mind as to whether or not anyone would actually even check back to see if a reply has been posted (because sometimes it might take a few days).
Do you ever check back? Ever?
‘Cause here’s the thing: If YOU do and receiving a reply makes you feel as good as I feel when I receive a comment, then it’s definitely a habit worth forming. It’d be my pleasure to try and reciprocate the kindness that’s shown to me.
But do ya?
‘Cause if you don’t, then I’ll just spend those extra minutes – I dunno – kissing on Esther or changing a diaper or writing a thank you note… or something.
Thoughts?
I love checking back to see what’s been added. It’s so much fun to share the tidbits with my friend and family!
Noted. š
I personally read your blog religiously. I feel bad myself when I don’t have a moment while sneaking it in at work to leave a comment of my appreciation for the joy your blog brings me! Some days it’s a life saver. I just love knowing you see my comments and hope they bring you as much enjoyment as your blog brings me as a reader. Xoxo
Yes. I do check back
Good to know!
Sometimes I check back to see if there is further comment/conversation happening, or if I missed something. There are times when I write something because I think you’d like to know it or need to hear it, especially since I’m in the category of NEVER having experienced what you are right now. I love your honesty about everything you are experiencing.
š
I love reading ALL the comments. Your family and friends are just as funny, deep, and helpful as you are, and that makes for some great reading! š
Sometimes I check back. I love how loving and encouraging your mom is. She seems so sweet! I like to check back and see others comments. But by all means if you are changing a diaper or trying to have a moment I totally get that!
I’d only expect a reply if I asked you (or the other readers) a question. How could I possibly expect you to come back and reply to each one of us, especially if we wait a few days to comment in the first place. Nah, use that time for something else.
I love the email notifications about your posts. I know i won’t miss any that way. I usually only comment when I have something substantial to say. So, I wouodnt expect you to respond to posts just to have responded. But if a post elicites a specific response when u read it, i think itd be wonderful for u to share that. I check back on the ones I comment on. : )
Sometimes I come back to see comments (yours or others’ contributions). But, I second Karen’s thoughts. š
I don’t expect or need a response. I am happy to have the time to read the current blog, much less go back to previous ones I’ve already savored. I would like to know how you take some of my forthright opinions, but I guess, since your still sending me invitations, I’m good to go.
*kisses*
